Women and violence
In Bologna, in 2006, women who have reported sexual abuse are augmented from 153 to 169 of 2005. But the place that seems more dangerous for them is their home. In fact cases of domestic violence are 260 and the criminals are moreover husbands and partners.
These are the dates presented from the association of Bologna “Casa delle Donne” during a seminary about violence on women. In 2006 the association has helped 327 women: 68% was Italian, 32% was immigrants.
Sex discrimination, assaults, and sexual violence are augmented. This year Police has registered a rising from 73 to 80 cases of sexual violence. But the most worrying date is that violence often comes from your own home.
The problem becomes more serious in “Cpt” in Bologna (a center for immigrant people) when immigrant women are obliged to stay in contact with their aggressor and so they have no courage to denounce him.
The armguard and the courses of self defence seem to be useless when violence is at home.
It would be necessary to improve family and sanitary policy . There are already a First Aid in St Maggiore Hospital
for women victims of violence and also the center “Casa delle Donne” and others. But probably it’s no more sufficient.
