In "Autobus 25" companies meet prisoners

On Thursday 28th of June, in the prison of Bologna, Dozza, “Autobus 25 –a way to drive to the company” a performance including an exhibition/conference will go on stage to awaken managers´ opinion on prisoners and to overpass prejudices against them. In fact to employ prisoners and ex prisoners is an opportunity for the companies which would benefit of tax relieves. Moreover it would represent an opportunity for the reintegration of former convicts into society. The advocate Bruno Desi, Guarantor of prisoners rights in Bologna, also assures that recidivism is little for persons who have found a work after prison.

The performance- The exhibition/conference “Autobus 25” (the bus number which go to prison Dozza) interchange theatrical performance with debates and speeches of managers and prisoners who have already made this experience and other institutional representatives. The initiative has been organized by the Province and Municipality of Bologna and the Career Guidance for prisoners.

Opportunities-Manuela Ceresani, director of prison of Dozza, explains: “It’s a support not only for prisoners and ex- prisoners in their way to reintegration but also for persons who employ them. They often ask me what guarantees I can offer”. Considering tax relieves for companies and the small number of recidivism this project of job reintegration is an opportunity for all the society.

Actually-In the prison of Dozza, from 2002 to 2007, 132 job reintegration for ex prisoners and 41 for prisoners have been created thanks to the Career Guidance. Cooperatives employ much more prisoners than private companies which probably are more sceptical. However, in Italy the number of prisoner employing is only 20%. So it’s necessary to emphasize the social function of companies, and the exhibition/conference will try to do that with humour and reflection.
