The Council of the Province for foreign and stateless people stated in Bologna
After a long and difficult work on the previous procedure ( from the 180 amendments introduce last week from the opposition, only four of them have been received). Finally, the Council of the Province for foreign and stateless people has been created.
The Council of the province has approved the creation and the rules of the new council for foreign and stateless people, with 23 votes in favour and 6 against. The birth of the new organism has officially given political representation to the foreign residents in Bologna and its area.
Within six months will be the first election of representatives of this immigrants in the territory. It will be an universal suffrage system vote opened exclusively to foreign residents ( are excluded people who have already the Italian citizenship). Foreign people who will vote are only from the Bologna area (including Imola and else). The purpose of this representation is not only to give the possibility to represent foreign residents but also to increase their participation to and awareness about the local public life and so create a direct contact with the local entities.
The future Council of the foreign and stateless people will contribute to the formation of the administrative policies dealing with consultancy and proposals.
Moreover, it will have the right to give its opinion on the budget proposals, the same as the legal acts and programs concerning its good functioning. At the end, the representatives of the new council will have the possibility to be present at the metropolitan Union conference and at the administrative district Assembly of Imola.
