10 activities to promote peace
The Peace Week, organized by the National Coordination of the Local authorities for Peace and Human Rights and Tavola della Pace from the 1st to the 7th of October will provide a lots of initiatives, among which the new edition of Perugia-Assisi walk demonstration.
These are the initiatives to promote “All Human Rights for everyone” -the slogan which will be tuned for the walk demonstration of this year:
- 7th October: Perugia-Assisi walk demonstration . A walk dedicate to human rights and to all the journalists who have fight for them: Anna Politkovskaja killed in 2006 in Moscow, Ali Iman Shermarke killed in 2007 in Mogadiscio and to all the persons who have promoted an information of peace. The walk demonstration will represent also an occasion for the second edition of “Stand up Against Poverty” the biggest global event to achieve new objectives for development in the Millennium.
- 1-7th October: the Peace Week in which all the associations, schools, citizens, are invited to do something more to promote peace. The aim is to involve as many persons as possible to organize hundreds of occasions in all the cities.
- 2nd October: the first International Day of not-violence . In Rome, associations and institutions committed for human rights will ask to Parliament and Government more assurance and coherence to fight against poverty and war and to further an information of peace.
- 3rd October: the second National Day for an information of peace promoted in collaboration with the Italian Federation of journalists and syndication of RAI journalists.
- 4th October: the third National Day of peace, fraternity and dialogue promoted by the Italian Parliament to celebrate the day of St Francesco.
- 5th and 6th October: the seventh People Assembly of ONU in Perugia intitled “Another world is possible if we promote all the human rights for everyone” with associations and institutions coming from all the world especially from Africa and from Middle East.
- 5th and 6th October : the 3rd Youth Assembly of ONU in Terni untitled “Young people in action for human rights and peace” to give boys and girls a space in which compare and create an action program for the protection of human rights.
- 28 and 29th September in Ancona, 1st October in Milan: National Conferences about conflicts and peace in Africa and Middle East. Many persons from all the world, especially from Africa and Middle East will speak about their work of peace to fight against conflicts and wars. Many other conferences will be organized on the theme of “new alliances”.
- From 10th December 2007 to 10th December 2008: the year of Human Rights which will “end” in the 60° anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. To celebrate this anniversary the National Coordination of the Local authorities for Peace and Human Rights, Tavola della Pace and the association “Articolo 21” have presented a bill to promote a campaign of education to peace and human rights.
- 17 march 2007: in Ancona for the third International Meeting of Peace schools , the National Coordination of the Local authorities for Peace and Human Rights and Tavola della Pace in agreement with the Public Education Minister have decided to insert courses on human rights in all the schools.
