“All Human Rights for everyone”- Stand up!

The legislative assembly of the Emilia-Romagna lines up first for the Peace Week, organized by the National Coordination of the Local authorities for Peace and Human Rights and Tavola della Pace, which provide from the 1st to the 7th of October a lots of initiatives, among which the new edition ofPerugia-Assisi walk demonstration. On the “Pace e diritti” web site all associations and ONGs can send their own proposals to “Stand up!”  in the fight against poverty.

“All Human Rights for everyone”: this is the slogan which will be tuned for the walk demonstration of this year. Moreover, this year is the 60° anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. On 2008, it is also the 60° anniversary of the Italian Constitution and the European year of the intercultural dialogue. Lots of initiatives will be organized in all Italian provinces on themes concerning Peace, Human Rights, Justice and Democracy, as a result celebrations will take place such as the 2nd National Day for information and Communication on Peace, the 3rd National Day of Peace, Brotherhood and Dialogue, the 3rd Youth Assembly of ONU, the 7th People Assembly of ONU.

Therefore, the legislative assembly is inviting everyone, citizens, young people, associations, organizations, to participate to the assemblies and demonstration, and to organize from now on actions for the
 Peace Week . While all schools of the region are invited to join the program “La mia scuola per la pace 2007 2008” (the equivalent of my school for Peace 2007-2008) promoted by the National Coordination of the Local authorities for Peace and Human Rights and Tavola della Pace in agreement with the Public Education Minister to insert courses on human rights.
In addition, the Emilia-Romagna with the realization of the project “Adotta un popolo” (that is to say adopt People), initiative coming from the organizers welcoming representatives from diverse nations to open debates and discussions.

The
 Peace Week which ends up on Sunday with the walk demonstration Perugia-Assisi, should not disappear after 7 days of special commitment; instead it should be at the center of the national political agenda to mobilize and aware people on Peace, and so to promote all didactic actions which will be all along 2008. Thus, the Emilia-Romagna legislative assembly is on the first position to invite citizens, associations, local authorities, organizations and schools for the first steps of a long walk.

How can you participate actively to the week of peace?

1. Send your subscription to the
 Peace Week and to the walk demonstration Perugia-Assisi involving friends, schools, groups, associations, parishes.To subscribe go to  www.perlapace.it or www.entilocalipace.it. 

2. Participate to “Stand up” the biggest global event   to achieve new objectives for development in the Millennium. The target is to ask the Italian government to fight against poverty and “stand up” and organize as much as possible initiatives for the Peace Week. All associations, ONGs, and organizations can send their own initiatives to be published on “Pace and diritti” from 20 August.
